Porta Monticano®, aka “Porta del Leone” – Lion’s Gate, is one of main gates in the medieval town wall of Conegliano and takes its name from the river Monticano, that streams near it. The gate is painted with a mighty San Marco’s Lion, the symbol of the Republic of Venice, and since centuries it has been rounded by tenths of small wine bars. Here, both Conegliano’s people and foreigners used and still use to meet to have a glass of good wine, smiling and laughing together with friends and the barkeepers. From here comes the idea of making this house – sparkling wine with a blend of local white varieties. This sparkling wine is fresh, savoury and tasty, with hints of yellow fruit and white flowers, perfect for an aperitif with friends or to be paired with a platter of salami and cheese.
